In this post we’ll take a look at British multi-Grammy winning singer-songwriter Corinne Bailey Rae. Corinne is a clear example of an INFP musician.

INFPs are, by nature, very subjective. They see and enjoy the world in ways that can’t be easily labeled or quantified. This is in sharp contrast to INTPs who see the world in more objective and logical terms.

“I didn’t want to find myself being in a box and being labeled.”

Like most inuitives, INFPs tend to feel different from others. This is in part due to the fact that a majority of people (sensors) will naturally be oriented to what can be experienced directly with their senses, while a minority (intuitives – INFPs included) will be drawn to what’s possible or hidden.

“I feel like it’s me singing back to myself as a younger person and saying have confidence in being a bit different. I really felt I didn’t fit in.”

INFPs’ particular brand of intuition (Extraverted iNtuition) inclines them to particularly enjoy novelty. This is because they learn and develop by doing something and then seeing what happens. This helps them to predict what will happen in similar situations in the future, thus improving their intuition. If something becomes too predictable or familiar then it will be less interesting to them in this way.

“I think it’s really important to be constantly developing and changing and I really felt with this album I wanted to make things different.”
