In this post we’ll take a look at the multi-talented INTP actress/comedian/musician Kate Micucci. Kate is best known as a musician for her work in the duo Garfunkel and Oates.

INTPs’ primary function is Introverted Thinking. This function evaluates information based on logic and truth. INTP musicians can be very technical and logical. As is the case with Kate Micucci, they can also be very blunt and funny. This is in part due to their orientation towards what is ‘true’, which is usually more important to them than how anyone feels about it. Thus a tendency to say what’s true to them and let people react as they may.

Another factor in INTP humor is their auxiliary function, Extraverted iNtuition. This is a process of perceiving the hidden connections and relationships. Types who use this process as a strength (INTP, ENTP, INFP, ENFP) are inclined to draw unusual connections between things in a way that can be useful in humor. They also enjoy novelty and doing things that they’ve never done before in order to see what happens. This feeds their intuitive map and helps them grow their intuition so it becomes stronger and more accurate over time.

So the combination of their Introverted Thinking and Extraverted iNtuition can make for some edgy comedy where they’ll bluntly say what’s ‘true’, in a quirky or unusual way and anticipate and observe the reaction. In the video below (slightly NSFW) you’ll see this kind of humor on display in a song by Kat’s duo, Garfunkel and Oates, with her partner Riki Lindhome who’s an ENTP.
