“You can’t always write a chord ugly enough to say what you want to say, so sometimes you have to rely on a giraffe filled with whipped cream.”
Frank Zappa was a truly original and incredibly prolific musician. He recorded over 1,200 songs in just 30 years. If you could pass the notoriously impossible audition and make it in his band you were instantly famous.
He was an outspoken advocate for free speech and an outspoken opponent of drugs and all forms of stupidity.
So was he an ISTP or an ENTP?
There’s been a lot of debate about Frank Zappa’s personality type in the last few years. Many think ISTP and many think ENTP. I don’t think he’s especially difficult to type though, if you know what to look for.
The video is advanced. If you’re not familiar with the cognitive functions then you can go here: iNtuitiveMusician.com/learn for more info Even if you don’t understand the functions though, it should still be worth watching, and hopefully it will encourage you to learn more.
In the video I explain why Zappa’s introverted thinking function is so pronounced (his sharp, biting, logical side) and then dive into what I think is often the best way to tell the difference between the two types. Extraverted Sensing (orientates to physical sensation) vs. Extraverted iNtuition (orientates to novelty).
I’ve used clips of some great interviews and songs. I hope y0u enjoy it! Let me know what you think.
